College Media Network proudly welcomed 17 college journalists to New York City on Nov. 18 for the 2009 mtvU Woodie Awards.

The students received exclusive red carpet access in addition to tickets for the show, held at the Roseland Ballroom only a few blocks from CMN/MTV's offices in Times Square. This access allowed them to bump elbows with the likes of Death Cab for Cutie, Matt & Kim, Asher Roth, Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz and other artists frequenting mtvU's airwaves.

Prior to the awards, CMN staff treated the visiting journalists to a reception inside the CMN/MTV offices 35 floors above Times Square.

About the Woodies
The mtvU Woodie Awards are the only awards to honor the music voted best by the college audience. This year's performers will join an already incredible list of artists who have graced the Woodies stage in years past including Beck, Vampire Weekend, Santigold, Gym Class Heroes, Lykke Li, All Time Low and Imogen Heap. College students established the "mtvU Woodie Awards" in 2004, propelling some of their favorite acts to the next level of their careers  - including surging record sales, headlining tours and accolades at other award shows such as the MTV Video Music Awards.   Since the first "mtvU Woodie Awards," artists such as Fall Out Boy (Streaming Woodie '04), the Killers (Breaking Woodie '04), Death Cab for Cutie (Best Video Woodie '05), Plain White Ts (Breaking Woodie '06), Gym Class Heroes (Woodie of the Year '07) and Paramore (Woodie of the Year '08), have enjoyed mainstream success after winning big at the Woodies.
