On Saturday and Sunday morning (the 28th and 29th of January) between 5 a.m. and 8 a.m. EST we will perform a system wide maintenance of both pipes and all servers. There might be momentarily downtime when a server is restarted.
The front end sites of many of our schools on Admin 2 were inaccesible during the morning of Jan. 26, 2012. This was due to a server reconfiguration that needed to happen after we migrated our Admin 2 schools to a new infrastructure.
Our specialists have solved the problem, but there will be some more fine tuning that takes place to ensure the environment is stable.
We migrated our shools on our Admin 1 server environment onto our new infrastructure about a month ago. After some initial fine tuning of the environment it's now stabile and responding as it should, both admin and the front web servers.
Since we moved our Admin 2 schools last Thursday we have gone through the same fine tuning as with the first set of schools. Since Admin 2 demands more resources due to the amount of papers running on it, we have been working to find the correct performance settings and with a lot of traffic coming in, we now have identified some needs and these are being addressed. Some of the modifications we have done, without being too technical, includes adding four additional front web servers to improve site load time. Additional resources have been assigned to the admin server to improve the editorial experience.
We have a entire team of experts completely dedicated to improve this situation, both from an infrastructure and application standpoint. So far we have seen an improvement on the front web servers. We will continue to closely monitor until completely resolved. All information that you can provide about your experience is helpful for us to improve the situation.
