CMN maintains that its college newspaper partners have full design and editorial control over their sites.  There is a basic framework that newspapers work around (namely: ad positions), but there are no limitations on what can be done within the system beyond that.

We are a resource for best practices and will support newspaper staff on design initiatives that work within the framework of CP5.  We encourage our partners to learn and explore the CP5 platform in order to push it to the limits, but we also understand that not every publication has that resource year over year.

To that end, CMN has designers and developers on staff ready to help design your site should you exercise that right.  Whether it is simply a redesign of your masthead, a change in the layout of the home page, or help with coding up a microsite – our services are free of charge.

No matter what you are looking to do with your site we have professionals here to help.

You will always have the ability to design and customize your site without our help if you have a staff member who has the technical skills, but if you need our assistance or just want to bounce idea off someone, we are here.

Simply create a support ticket at support.collegepublisher.com explaining what you need help with (use the subject heading “Design”).

We want to take the hard work out of building and maintaining your site so it is sustainable over time and falls in line with web trends and best practices.

In our view, the content is the most important piece of the pie and your time should be focused on digital story-telling rather than front end programming.

At the end of the day, we make back the cost of these services when the traffic spikes.

Ask yourself this question:
When looking at the return on investment with your staff's time and efforts, what yields more page views?
A sleek new design or polished multimedia content supplementing the text of a story?

Both can be student driven, but only one can be done by your staff.
