There are nine different layout templates to choose from in CP5. When you log into the administration area, and navigate to the Start Page, you will see the name of your site, and directly below that, a drop down menu with your template selected. You can edit which layout template your site uses by clicking "edit" from the actions menu above, selecting a new layout template, and then clicking "save." The layout template you choose applies to your entire site.

*Here are some items to consider in addition to the templates.

Note: Please be aware that switching to or from a three column template with affect the width of your center column. If you have custom HTML objects, SoundSlides objects, or other custom coding, your layout can be affected by the template change. Some layouts have specific styles in your site's local CSS that apply only to either two column, or three column templates.

There are two basic layout templates in CP5 - a two column layout and a three column layout. A two column layout features a horizontal style navigation, with your sections in a horizontal bar underneath the Masthead of your site. A three column layout places the main navigation in a narrow column, to the left of your site's main content area. Deviations between the layout templates generally apply to the location of the local ad positions, with the exceptions of Templates 8.

Template 1:

A two column layout template. In this template the 468x60 local ad position is placed in the "middle" of your site's layout. More specifically, the ad will appear between the content in your "Upper Left Column" and your "Lower Left Column." If you do not place any content in the "Lower Left Column," the ad will appear at the bottom of your content.

Template 2:

A two column layout template. In this template the 468x60 local ad position is at the top of your site's main content area. The ad will appear above the "Upper Left Column" content slot.

Template 3

A two column layout template. Here, the 468x60 ad appears in the Masthead area of your website, and can be floated to one side of your site's logo. This layout removes the 468x60 from the content area, so there will be no local ad position in the main content area of your site, only in the Masthead and right column.

Template 4:

A three column layout. In this template the 468x60 local ad position is placed in the "middle" of your site's layout. More specifically, the ad will appear between the content in your "Upper Left Column" and your "Lower Left Column." If you do not place any content in the "Lower Left Column," the ad will appear at the bottom of your content.

Template 5:

A three column layout template.  In this template the 468x60 local ad position is at the top of your site's main content area. The ad will appear above the "Upper Left Column" content slot.

Template 6:

A three column layout template. Here, the 468x60 ad appears in the Masthead area of your website, and can be floated to one side of your site's logo. This layout removes the 468x60 from the content area, so there will be no local ad position in the main content area of your site, only in the Masthead and right column.

Template 7:

The final three column template. This template features the local 468x60 ad spot in the middle of your site. This means that the 468x60 ad will appear below the "Upper Left Column" and above the "Lower Left Column." In this layout, the 160x600 local ad position is moved into the left column, below the main navigation area. The local 300x250 ad spot remains in the far right column.

Template 8:

Another two column template. The 468x60 local ad position is in the middle of your site, as in Template 1. The main feature on this template is the fluid masthead and navigation areas. This means your site's masthead area and horizontal navigation will span the entire width of the browser, rather than being assigned a fixed width in the browser window. This template also featured a duplicate navigation bar in the Footer area of your site, which means your sections will auto populate into the bottom area of your site.
